Slippery pool environments are a common nuisance. Even in public swimming pools, visitors slip around the edge of the pool, just about everywhere where splashing water and wet soles of feet carry wetness. The stated coefficient of static friction of tiles and slabs often fails in practice, and so owners and visitors to swimming pools find themselves confronted with the question of how to avoid slipping on wet tiles and slabs.
Porcelain stoneware tiles and slabs have a particularly low water absorption (< 0.5 %) because the material is pressed under high pressure and fired at high temperature. This low porosity makes porcelain stoneware frost-resistant and therefore particularly suitable for outdoor use. In addition to the technical properties such as hardness and durability, the diverse design possibilities of porcelain stoneware slabs and tiles are also impressive, making them one of the most popular floor coverings.
