The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is one of the best universities, regularly achieving excellent results in international and national rankings. Distinguished in research and teaching, TUM has produced 17 Nobel Prize winners to date.
The public university comprises 11 schools and faculties with 48,000 students and over 600 professors. Founded in 1868, the sprawling campus in Freising features several old picturesque wooden bridges and terraces made of wooden planks, which are part of the walking and biking paths.
In wet weather, wooden planks are slippery and cyclists in particular fell on the bridges and terraces in wet weather. Building Management therefore decided to refurbish the wooden bridges. A slip safety solution was sought that would provide pedestrians and cyclists with a non-slip crossing even when it was raining. SWISSGriP was contacted with the problem and within a few weeks our slip safety service provided the application. Our team was on site to coat the wooden planks on bridges. On the object pictures you can see the wetness which clogs the wooden floorboards made of Douglas fir. But although there was wet autumn weather before and after our mission, the wooden planks could be coated quickly and reliably with our GriP spray system to prevent slipping.
