Around 1400 children and teenagers attend the Entfelden district school and use the staircase, with its artificial stone, on a daily basis.
Artificial stone stairs and stone steps are particularly slippery and therefore dangerous to fall on. After a fall on stairs, a quick non-slip solution is often sought that makes the slippery surface immediately slip-proof. Anti-slip strips from the DIY store are bought and glued onto the stairs. Although anti-slip strips make the stairs less slippery in places, they are not a permanent or safe anti-slip solution. The anti-slip strips or anti-slip pad often stick with difficulty and dirt always collects at the edges. Eventually they detach from the surface and the anti-slip strips themselves become a danger of slipping and tripping.
