Steel staircase: chequered plate steps made slip-resistant
The steel staircase leading to a water slide has been fitted with an anti-slip coating. The chequered plate on the steps now meets Class C anti-slip standards.
The Eibenstock water park has undergone extensive modernisation. A new large water slide has also been installed, accessed via a steel staircase. The steps of the metal staircase are made of chequer plate. During the modernisation, a solution was sought to make the step surfaces slip-resistant in such a way that slip resistance is guaranteed even under constant wet conditions and heavy foot traffic.
A sample of the chequered plate stair tread was coated and tested. Once the steel staircase had been constructed and installed, the chequered plate on the steel staircase was treated with the anti-slip coating. SWISSGriP anti-slip coating was applied using a spray process. The chequered plate stair treads now have certified Class C slip resistance. This is the highest slip resistance class for barefoot areas in wet conditions.
