Refurbishment in a historically listed building: Art Nouveau baths.

Floors in swimming pools, Roman baths, changing rooms and walkways are renovated with anti-slip coating.

Refurbishment in a listed building requires precise planning and comprehensive knowledge of the building fabric that needs to be preserved and new materials that are required for refurbishment. The public baths built in 1906-1909 are exemplary for the style of their time. Not only does German Art Nouveau meet French Art Nouveaux, but the idea of giving all the city's inhabitants access to wellness oases, at a time when bathrooms in one's own domicile were reserved for the upper class, is also the aim of the bathing establishments built at that time.

The renovation of the listed building includes all areas of the baths: pool, Roman bath, changing rooms, cloakrooms and walkways. The historical floor coverings are made of marble and ceramics and are to meet the current safety standards as well as the requirements of the preservation order. After extensive testing, GriP Anti-Slip France was finally chosen to make the ceramic tiles and marble floors slip-resistant.

Within a few days, 529 m2 and 50 changing rooms were treated with SWISSGriP Antislip using a spray system. The transparent anti-slip coating can only be seen on close inspection and the listed floor coverings show their original shine - but with the highest possible anti-slip value.
