At the company's headquarters in Hinwil, the entrance to the office building was designed with gray marble slabs. Marble has been a popular building material for thousands of years. In addition to its prestigious appearance, it is also characterized by its durability. The surface treatment of marble has undergone many variations through the centuries, and the natural stone could thus be adapted to the purpose and use.
For floors, polished marble is probably best known, but marble slabs are also ground, hammered, lasered, sandblasted or antiqued, to name just a few processes. The marble floor of the company headquarters, on the other hand, was brushed and satin-finished. This process is mainly used to make the surface slip-resistant. However, this slip resistance wears off over time and when an employee slipped and broke his leg, a new permanent anti-slip solution was to be implemented for the entrance area.
One option would have been to rip out the marble tiles, dispose of them and install new flooring. However, this renovation option is not only costly and lengthy, but also contradicts a sustainable implementation. The durable marble slabs were only a few years old and in excellent condition. Only the slip resistance was a source of danger.
GriP was chosen for a quick and sustainable refurbishment. The previously installed marble slabs in the entrance area were treated with SWISSGriP. Within a few hours, the resistant coating was sprayed on, and the floor tiles thus received the safety class R11. GriP AntiSlip systems are also frost-proof, weatherproof and UV-resistant, and with the R11 slip resistance, the entrance area can be walked on safely in the future.
