Accoya is a high-quality, modified wood that is particularly durable and resistant to weathering. It is ideal for outdoor use, especially for decking. Here are some advantages of Accoya decking:
Durability: Accoya wood is highly resistant to moisture, mold, rot, and insects. It has a long service life and requires less maintenance than unmodified wood.
Environmental friendliness: Accoya is made from sustainably sourced wood species such as spruce or pine, which is modified using an environmentally friendly acetylation process. This makes the wood less susceptible to biological decomposition.
Stability: The acetylation process stabilizes the volume of the wood, which means that there is less swelling or shrinkage. This keeps the deck in good shape even in changing weather conditions.
Aesthetics: Accoya has an attractive, uniform surface and is available in a variety of finishes and colors to achieve the desired look.
Low maintenance: Compared to other woods that require regular sanding or re-treatment, Accoya requires minimal maintenance. Occasional cleaning and possibly re-oiling is sufficient to keep the wood in good condition.
Accoya decks therefore offer a sustainable and durable solution for outdoor surfaces that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
However, like other woods, Accoya becomes slippery as soon as a film of water forms on it. To counteract this reduction in adhesion and make the wood surface skid-proof, our non-slip coating was installed. The slip resistance class was thus increased to R11, and the terrace is now skid-proof even in damp and wet weather.
