The history of GriP AntiSlip® dates back to 1985.
A director at the Holiday Inn chain of hotels was looking for a reliable and, at the same time, visually attractive alternative to shower mats, which were not compatible with the aesthetic standards required in a hotel in his opinion. As there were no products available on the world market that fulfilled this hotel manager's requirements, he initiated an innovation competition.
Five years later, the Dutch engineer Werner Boogaard presented an antislip coating that was welcomed enthusiastically and was put into service. Against the background of a ban on solvents, a new environmentally friendly, water-based antislip coating was developed in the mid-1990s and patented worldwide.
A number of prizes followed, including the Golden Award as the best environmentally friendly antislip coating in the world and the first prize at the Salon International des Inventions in Geneva. As the demand for slip-proof bathtubs was growing continuously, the attention of renowned manufacturers of showers and bathtubs was drawn to this award-winning antislip coating.
